This is for all you DIYers out there. Because making homemade gifts for the holidays always feels so good.
It’s the last week of November, and I have holiday gifts on my mind. I’ve always been one to show my love with food, so obviously homemade edible gifts are my thing. As much as I love the holidays (and getting fun presents), there’s always something about the commercial aspect of it all that makes me cringe a little bit. Anyone else with me on this?
It always makes me feel better to give homemade gifts. The little homesteader in me gets excited. I know that I appreciate when someone takes the time to actually MAKE something for me.
Wondering what you could make for your friends and family? Need some homemade holiday gift ideas? No worries, I got you covered. Today I’m sharing 20 edible holiday recipes that I have used myself personally for gifts at one time or another. All healthy and made with real food ingredients. All gluten free and paleo. All yummy and delicious. Things you can feel good about sharing with your friends and family.
Imagine getting a sweet little jar of homemade healthy nutella. Or a jar of golden milk turmeric paste to make the most delicious and cozy golden milk. Or a box of healthy dark chocolate trail mix bites. Big smiles all around. GUARANTEED!! Plus you don’t have to break the bank to show the people in your life that you are thinking about them.
Let’s talk packaging for a moment. Presentation is a big part of holiday gifting. Here’s a list of sustainable packaging ideas for your healthy edible holiday gifts:
- CUTE SMALL JARS for jams, nuts, nutella, coconut chips, and golden milk paste. You could also use THESE. If you want bigger ones, you could use THESE. I happen to be one of those people that has an endless supply of saved jars in my kitchen cabinets. I’ve also had good luck finding cute jars at thrift stores.
- GIFT BOXES made from recycled materials make good cookie boxes. Plus they are fun to decorate. ECO-FRIENDLY PAPER BAGS also work for cookies and other gifts. THESE recycled bags come with a cute label and ribbon.
- REUSABLE COOKIE TINS come in many shapes and sizes. And they can be reused again and again. I’ve had good luck finding them at thrift stores. I collect them throughout the year for holiday cookie season.
- CLOTH or FABRIC works great for gift wrapping jars and other solid objects. Use what you already have around the house. Gently used scarves, old clothes that you no longer wear, scraps of fabric. Get creative.
Peace and love to you and yours this holiday season!

Katja

Some of these edible gifts require refrigeration, so keep that in mind when sharing with friends and family.
