How to Throw a Fairy Tea Party

How to Throw a Fairy Tea Party | www.savorylotus.comReady to channel your inner fairy?  Take a look at how we created a Fairy Tea Party for our Little One’s 5th birthday. Magical. Enchanting.  And super fun.

I dunno about your guys but I love a good tea party.  Well, honestly, I love all the mini little treats at a tea party.  So obviously when Little One said she wanted to have a fairy party for her 5th birthday, I suggested that we make it a tea party.  She agreed.

As a mama, it makes me happy to see my children happy.  And how special that I get to create a magical experience for my Little One and her friends.  But I do have to admit that this little fairy tea party was just as much for me as it was for her.  I really just wanted to channel my inner fairy and my inner DIYer.

But you don’t have to be a Pinterest super mom (you know what I’m talking about, don’t ya?) to create a fun fairy experience.  All it took was a little creativity and some thrift store shopping.  We started by scouring all of our local thrift shops for fancy tea cups and saucers.  A little mix and match tea set was soon put together for very little money.

I did spend a bit of time on Pinterest to get some decorating ideas.  I knew I wanted it to have a very natural, flowery feel.  I scored a sweet little flag banner from Amazon, along with the cutest little fairy cupcake toppers.  And just for fun, we got some glittery fairy tattoos for our friends.

We got tons of pink, white, and lace ribbon from a craft consignment store in town for just a few bucks. And the rest we foraged from our yard.  Tons of greenery and flowers. Decorating was really the funnest part of all of this.  Me and my two girls had a blast doing it.  My oldest daughter created the beautiful garlands for the party and helped the little ones make flower wreaths for their hair.

Ok…. now on the the fairy food part of our party…… here’s the menu:

…honey sweetened hibiscus tea. Obviously, cuz fairies love red colorful drinks. Made with dried hibiscus flower steeped in hot water for many hours.

…gluten free blueberry mini muffins. Obviously again since fairies are so small that only mini muffins will do. I used THIS recipe minus the carrot and raisins and added blueberries.

…pink whipped cream. Because that’s just fun.  We used a dried beet powder that worked beautifully to make the perfect shade of pink.

…blackberry crisp.  Blackberries are everywhere around our house in summer, and we have a freezer full for baking.  I used THIS recipe.

…homemade dairy free peach ice cream in gluten free ice cream cones.  Our little peach tree gave us some of the sweetest peaches this year.

Needless to say, a good time was had by all. I am sure that the children did not even notice some of the small details of the party. Like I said, it was mostly for me and my inner fairy. But it sure was fun watching them make fairy wreaths and eat all the fairy treats.  It wasn’t easy shooting the images for this party.  Serving fairy tea to 10 little humans required my full attention.
